Physiotherapy role in diseases of the temporomandibular joint

Abstract BACKGROUND. Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders represent a group of musculoskeletal and neuromuscular disorders, which can involve both the temporomandibular complex muscle bone components in immediate vicinity. The etiology is multifactorial includes biological, environmental, social, emotional cognitive triggers. Thus, there no treatment choice for this pathology. Physiotherapy beginning to occupy an important place within adjuvant therapies used TMJ dysfunctions. OBJECTIVE. current study aimed evaluate degree awareness dysfunction and, implicitly, need treatment, level knowledge role physiotherapy regard, as well interdisciplinary collaboration between dentist physical medicine rehabilitation doctor terms MATERIAL AND METHODS. We carried out prospective study, based on questionnaire made Google Forms platform. consisted 26 questions socio-economic elements were addressed, medical symptomatology, diagnosis dental history. RESULTS. Analysing results, we identified that among people presenting at least one symptom associated with only 32.6% went dentist, while 47.9%, did not present themselves because they consider symptoms be taken into account. Only respondent (1.6%) was recommended option disorder by dentist. other 61 (98.4%) denied receiving recommendation. CONSLUSION. confirms minimum implicitly general population. Also, about dysfunctions dentists insufficient.
